MDF is actually a kind of man-made density board, which mainly made of plant fibers or wood fibers. After the fibers are crushed, separated, and dried, a urea-formaldehyde resin or other suitable adhesive is added, and it is made after high-temperature pressing.
The Invention of Wood-based Panels
The invention of wood-based panels can be traced back to 3000 BC. At the beginning of the 1st century BC, the Romans were already familiar with veneer manufacturing technology and plywood manufacturing principles.
In 1812, the French invented the veneer sawing machine.
In 1834, France issued a planer patent.
After 1844, the improved rotary cutting machine was officially used in industrial production. Since then, the rotary cutting machine has been continuously improved, which has promoted the development of the plywood industry. In the middle of the 19th century, Germany first established a plywood factory.
In 1898, the UK first made semi-hard fiberboard on a rotary paper machine.
In 1914, the United States used groundwood pulp waste to produce insulation boards and built an insulation fiber board factory.
In 1916, the dry forming process first appeared in Austria.
In 1931, Sweden invented the Asplund method, and the first hard fiberboard factory produced by this method was established in Sweden the following year. So far, the fiberboard manufacturing industry has separated from the paper industry and become an independent industrial category.
In 1943, the United States successfully studied dry and semi-dry manufacturing processes. In the early 1950s, factories were established in the United States, Federal Germany, Czechoslovakia and Austria to produce hard fiberboards by the above two methods.
In the early 1960s, medium density fiberboard was made on the basis of dry production process. In 1966, the first medium density fiberboard factory was built in the United States.
China's wood-based panel industry first appeared in 1920, but until 1949, there were only a few small plywood factories in the country. After 1949, the wood-based panel industry developed rapidly, and it took shape in 1960. Since the late 1970s, the output has increased rapidly, and density board, particle board, and plywood have all increased at the same time. This is because China's wood-based panel industry is in the initial stage, and the supply of wood is far from meeting the rapidly growing needs of the society, no matter what kind of wood-based panels are in short supply.
