The differences between flame-retardant MDF and ordinary MDF are analyzed one by one as follows:

1. Color The color of flame-retardant MDF is dyed with red dye, so red MDF is not necessarily flame-retardant MDF Board, this point cannot be identified.

 2. Physical and mechanical properties Due to the addition of flame retardants, the water-absorbing expansion of the board is affected to a certain extent. Therefore, testing the water-absorbing expansion coefficient of the board can preliminarily judge whether the flame-retardant MDF can meet the use requirements. The detection method of water absorption expansion coefficient is as follows: simple determination of water absorption thickness expansion rate: sawing a candidate sample of similar size, after numbering, first use a micrometer to measure the thickness of the test point of the sample, then put it in water, soak for 24 hours. Take it out and measure its thickness, and you can calculate the percentage of thickness change before and after immersion, which is the water absorption thickness expansion rate.

3. Functional flame retardant. The functionality of MDF is the fire resistance. The simple way to detect it is to burn it with fire to see if it can stop the flame from further burning. Simple identification method of flame retardant performance: cut off a small piece (diameter 2-3mm) with a blade, burn it horizontally and regularly, the burning time is 5 seconds, leave the fire, if the sample self-extinguishes within 10 seconds and there is no spark, it can reach B2 level; The vertical sample burns at regular intervals, and the burning time is 5 seconds. After leaving the fire, the sample will self-extinguish within 5 seconds and there is no spark, then it can reach Class B1.
